Google Apps at Princeton Usage Guidelines

Google Apps Suite for Education accounts are now available to Princeton University faculty, staff, and graduate students. Only two apps will be enabled at this time: Google Drive (which includes Google Docs) and Google Sites. Faculty, staff, and graduate students must submit a request via the Princeton Google Account Request Form for creation of their accounts.

Once you have access to your Princeton Google Account, we ask that you be mindful of the type of data that you store within the Google Apps. Princeton University does not authorize you to use your account to store the following types of data in Google Drive, Google Sites, or any other Google Apps:

  • Social security numbers

  • Credit or debit card numbers

  • Bank account numbers

  • Driver’s license numbers or state identification card numbers

  • Information about individual participants in the Student Health Plan or employee benefit plans

  • Records relating to financial aid, mortgage loans, tuition payment plans, payroll or travel advances and campus payment or cash cards

  • Export Controlled Technology (this includes any data that is or may be subject to export control laws such as those that protect national security or trade secrets)

If you have any questions about appropriate uses of Google Apps, please contact helpdesk@princeton.edu
